Christmas Eve Services in Montclair

Happy holidays!

We are finding so many fun things to do in Montclair with the kids out of school. I take them to New York Sports Club just about every day because they love the nursery, and when I’m off work, I actually have time to exercise. Nothing like working those abs before reaching for pie.

Tonight, we’ll go to church services. We attend The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Montclair (see photo, left). There, we honor all of the major religions, and we’re free to believe what we choose. It’s a wonderful liberal community, like much of the rest of Montclair. Here are three Christmas Eve services going on around town.

Wednesday, December 24
Christmas Eve Services

St. James Episcipal Church
4 p.m. Joyous Family Celebration with
the Red Hots, Treble and Adult Choirs. The Christmas story will be
told, and favorite carols sung, after which families who need to leave
before Holy Communion may do so.  (Nursery care available.)

10:30 p.m. Special music and candlelight service

11 p.m. Festive Eucharist ending just after midnight (no nursery care).

Union Congregational Church
5 p.m. The family service will include Key of C Bells, Children’s Choir, Union Orchestra, and Julie and John Rogers

8 p.m. Jazz Service: Matt King, Rob Middleton, Andy, Eulau, Eliot Zigmund, Eric Olsen

10 p.m. The beauty of our sanctuary is heightened by the poinsettias, the candle light, the sacrament and the Sanctuary Choir

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Montclair

5 p.m. Christmas Eve in Story and Music–Family service good for little ones.

7:30 p.m.  Christmas Eve in Story and Music–More reflective for older kids and adults.

What congregation do you attend in town?

We will be attending our first Christmas Eve service at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, since becoming members in November. We are really looking forward to it!
