Weekend Getaway: Philadelphia International Flower Show

What better way to escape the end of winter than to surround yourself with flowers? Next weekend, The Pennsylvania Convention Center hosts the Philadelphia International Flower Show and transforms the convention center into Springtime in Paris.

I really want to convince my husband that we should go. A couple of years ago we took a weekend trip to Philly with the girls and had a great time. I think we’re due for another. The flower show offers something for the entire family. Fisher Price will set up a family lounge full of toys, puppet shows, activities and more. Older kids can have fun getting their “Kid’s Passport” stamped throughout the day and for adults, there will be food tastings, vendors and of course–flowers.

Here is a list of suggested accomodations. We stayed at The Embassy Suites, which was very family-friendly and nice.

I love the Philly Flower Show. My mother lives in Philly so I have been many times with and without kids. I would recommend going during the week if possible. The place is packed on the weekends. There is quite a bit of walking involved and I found taking a stroller was a huge pain with all of the people.

My seven year old loves the flower show but my four year old is tough. He like to run and touch things.

The show vendors are amazing. They alone make it worth the trip for me.

My grandmother used to take me every spring to the flower show in Philly. My mom looks forward to next year when my son will be old enough for her to take and enjoy the flowers.

Also, if anyone is ever in Hong Kong during their flower show (a week after the Philadelphia one) it is worthwhile to attend.
