Baristaville Independence Day Celebrations 2011

A couple of Maplewood cutie-pies from last year's celebration.

The Fourth of July, aka Independence Day, is just one week away! It will also give us a three day weekend–my favorite kind. There are many ways to celebrate. Parades, parties, fireworks… The choices of patriotic fun are endless.

Here are Baristaville’s Independence Day celebrations:

Essex County’s Free Music Series: US Military Academy Band and Fireworks
Who: All ages.
What: A concert by The US Military Academy Band and a fireworks show.
Where: Brookdale Park, Bloomfiled/Montclair, NJ
When: Friday, July 1 at 7:30 pm.
Cost: Free

Red White and Blue Zoo Day
What:
Come learn about native American animals. Live music. Treasure hunt and more!
Where: Turtle Back Zoo, 560 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, NJ.
When:
Sunday, July 3 from 11 am – 4 pm.
Cost:
Free.

Montclair’s 61st Annual 4th of July Parade, Picnic and Fireworks
Who:
All ages.
What: Montclair’s 61st annual town parade and picnic to celebrate Independence Day. Enjoy food from local vendors, live music, face painting, bouncy house, train rides and more! That night, take the family to see the fireworks!
Where: The parade route is 1.6 miles traveling west on Bloomfield Avenue to Midland Avenue, continuing to Watchung Avenue, west to Valley Road and ending at Edgemont Park where immediately following will be a Family Picnic. The Fireworks will go off at Yogi Berra Stadium at 9:15 pm. Gates open between 6:30-7pm, and there will be a concession stand. Park at the Carpe Diem lot next to the stadium.
When: Monday, July 4. Parade begins at 11 am (rain or shine) The picnic starts immediately after the parade. (no rain date) Fireworks at 9:15 pm.
Cost: Free

South Orange 4th of July: Bicycle Rodeo And Parade
Who:
All ages.
What: A day of family fun in and around Meadowland Park and the Community Pool! Celebration begins with a Bicycle Rodeo and will also include a parade, ceremony, model boat exhibit, music by Hambone Kelly Banjo Band and much more! The Community Pool will offer fun family activities. Check here for full schedule and details.

When: Monday, July 4 beginning at 9:30 am.
Cost: Free.

Maplewood’s 4th of July Celebration
Who:
All ages.
What: A Full Day of Family Fun, including Circus & Fireworks, Near to Home! Organized by Fourth of July Committee, MCA,
Where: Maplewood, NJ. Click here for specific places where events are being held.
When: Monday, July 4 from 7:45 am – (approximately) 10 pm. Click here for a full schedule of event times.
Cost: $10 admission per person for a tag to enjoy the full extent of festivities. “Babes in arms” are free.Tags required and can be purchased at the following locations:
Town Hall – Clerk’s Office
Libraries – Main Branch & Hilton Branch
Recreation Dept. – Town Hall & De Hart Park

State Fair Meadowlands: Independence Day Celebration
Who:
All ages.
What: Go out early and celebrate our nation’s birthday at the fair.  Enjoy all the rides & attractions along with great FREE entertainment, including the fair’s spectacular evening fireworks.
Where: Meadowlands, 50 Route 120, East Rutherford, NJ.
When: Monday, July 4 from 2 pm. Fireworks at 11 pm.
Cost: Weekday tickets for children under 12: $5. For those 13 or older: $7. Friday thru Sunday and Holiday ticket prices for children under 12: $6. For those 13 or older: $9. Children under 34″ are free everyday. Parking is $4. For more information call 973-450-1073.

West Orange’s Annual Lefty Boland Fun Meet & Rotary BBQ & Fireworks
Who:
All ages.
What: The 77th Annual “Lefty” Boland fun run returns with festivities at the West Orange High School baseball field. Races, pony rides, moonwalks, balloon toss, contests, live music and more!
Where:West Orange High School baseball field, 51 Conforti Avenue, West Orange, NJ.
When: Monday, July 4 at 6 pm. Fireworks start at 7 pm.
Cost: Free.

Millburn’s 4th of July Celebration
Who: All ages.
What: Full day of fun including, games, pony rides,amusement rides, live music, fireworks and more!
Where: Taylor Park, 78 Main Street, Millburn, NJ.
When: Monday, July 4 starting at 9 am.
Cost: Free.
