Day Trip: Storybook Land

After my family spent a long weekend in Philadelphia, where we enjoyed The Please Touch Museum, The Franklin Institute, The Philadelphia Museum of Art and our girls (and we) were spoiled at The Four Seasons (They are a super family-friendly hotel), we ended our trip by visiting Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, just a little over two hours from Baristaville.

Built in 1955, Storybook Land has brought children’s nursery rhymes and stories to life with its displays. When you step through the castle doors of the amusement park, you feel transported back to a simpler time. It’s very old-fashioned, but not rundown. The park was very well-maintained, extremely clean and lined with trees, which makes it very shady. In addition to nursery rhyme displays, there were great rides for little kids, except the Bubbles The Coaster ride–that was NOT the best roller coaster to introduce ride to my 4-year-old. It’s fast and bumpy!

The admission price isn’t cheap, $21.95 (12-months-old and under free), but once you’re in the park you don’t have to pay for anything else, except food and treats. There is a huge picnic area where you can enjoy food you bring in, which is what I would do next time. The cafeteria sells pizza, burgers, chicken fingers and the like, but it wasn’t very good.

If you have little kids, this is a wonderful place to visit. My girls loved it and I did too.
