I have never had as much fun making a costume as I did for my number one fan Anna. With that said, it was also probably the easiest costume I’ve ever put together. Watching Anna’s face as she checked out her “Fashionista Witch” self in the mirror with a huge smile on her face was priceless. 100% worth it.
The great thing about this costume is it took no time and it can be used for ages 2-82.
This is what I sent my friend Debora to get at the store:
- A witch hat
- A long sleeved black shirt that was a size or two to big
- A funky black skirt
- Striped witch tights
- Boots (she already had these)
- Pink, purple, and orange felt
- Black beaded trim
- Hot glue
- Plastic spiders
I made the funky collar from thin triangle shapes in hot pink, orange and purple with pinking shears and I hot glued the tops together with hot glue. Then I added some funky black trim left over from my daughter’s Parisian birthday cake and a bit of Velcro at each end to hold it in place (see slide show for how-to’s).
I cut the bottom of the black shirt in a jagged pattern at the bottom to make it more funky. Then I hot glued a few plastic spiders to the hat and veil and that was it.
We added a pink scarf for a belt and a funky spider necklace and that was it. Done and done!
Debora found the funky skirt and shirt on sale at Mandee and the hat and tights at Target. The whole costume was less expensive than a store bought witch costume.
