Or, actually, share what you have to say about how we should (or shouldn’t) listen to our mothers.

Listen to Your Mother is in New York City for the first time in its three year existence. The production is looking for writers and performers of all experience levels to audition for the production. And don’t feel excluded if you’re not a mother. It’s not that kind of audition. All ages, backgrounds, shapes and sizes, and genders are welcome. If you have a perspective on mothers or mothering (and really, who doesn’t these days?), you qualify to audition. Let’s get New Jersey and Baristaville some representation in the Motherhood department; sign-up and go for it!

From the LTYM website:

We are looking for humorous, poignant, painful, joyful or soulful original pieces on mothers and mothering which take three to five minutes to read aloud (please check this before the audition). Previously published work accepted as long as the author retains full rights or has express permission to read the work for this event.

Commitment for cast members includes two rehearsals, a pre-performance run-through at the JCC Manhattan’s Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Auditorium, and the 2 p.m. performance on May 6, 2012.

Auditions are by appointment only, and they run from Sunday, February 26 through Tuesday, February 28.  See the website for the full schedule and for more information.
