Kids young and old filled Watchung Booksellers to meet Jorge Aguirre, the author of Giants Beware! today. The graphic novel tell the story of a brave and spunky girl named Claudette whose wish is to slay a giant.

With a large TV screen at his side, Jorge showed the kids the process of creating a graphic novel, which he wrote with his college friend, illustrator Rafael Rosado. From early story ideas, which turned into to a full script. And rough sketches, which ended up cleaned up full color pictures. It was really interested to see the process and learn how two artists worked together to create a truly great story.

Jorge’s adorable and spunky son Diego was there to help his dad too. He held up the book and reminded everyone that the book is called Giants Beware!

The kids really enjoyed the “Claudette” cookies that Barista Kids ordered from Le Baker’s Dozen. Not only were they just really cute, they were, as my daughters’ said with mouthfuls, “Just so good!”

Jorge was great talking to the kids who waited on line to get their copies of Giants Beware! signed. My daughter gave him a photo she drew of Claudette and he told her he would put it on his website. That made her day.
