Teens and young adults can be inspired and get their creative juices flowing at the “Haiku, Blues Poetry and Rhythms of Nature” presentation at Celebrity Recycle in Montclair. The event is sponsored by Generation Green.

This  interactive presentation, led by Al Shorts, professor of English, Folklore and Communications at Union County College, will bring together two great poetry traditions of the East and the West.

Professor Shorts has studied with poets Philip Levine and Amiri Baraka and has presented programs in folklore at national venues, such as the Smithsonian Institution, The Philadelphia Folk Festival, The Clearwater Folk Festival, Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, The Detroit Festival of the Arts, The Cincinnati Arts Consortium; and museums, such as the Montclair Art Museum and the Newark Museum.

Show up with your creativity, ideas and enthusiasm. Materials will be supplied!  Parents wishing to accompany young teens are welcomed to participate.
