Calling all young screenwriters, directors and producers! Montclair Film Festival’s 2nd Annual Kidz Shortz Competition wants your film and the time to register to enter the competition is now!

Kidz Shortz is an educational initiative, in partnership with Barista Kids and Montclair Art Museum, aimed at showcasing and inspiring the talent of Northern New Jersey students in grades 4 through 12. Last year’s theme was “My Town…The Way I See It.” This year the theme is “Freedom…The Way I See It.”

The word freedom brings up many images and ideas.  It may refer to free will, liberty, rights, political freedom, freedom to assemble, to protest, freedom of speech, intellectual freedom, economic freedom, moral and religious freedom, scientific freedom and even the freedom to keep your bedroom door closed to your sibling.

Using film as your medium, explore what freedom means to you. Your G rated, film may end up a comedy, drama, documentary, animation, musical, adventure, action, crime, war or sci-fi.

We are thrilled to partner with MFF and Montclair Art Museum for this competition again this year. We were so impressed at last year’s winners and all of the talented films entered by our area’s young filmmakers. We can’t wait to see what happens this year!
