Van Vleck House and Gardens was already one of my favorite places on earth and now with their new renovations it just got even better. The entire fence that surrounds the property was wrapped in red with swags on the gate as well as white lanterns lining the path. Inside there was a gorgeous room all decorated with small tables and chairs. Each table had crayons and “letters to Santa” paper for the children to color and drop in the mailbox while they waited for their turn to see Santa. There were cookies, doughnuts, cider, candy canes and coffee for all to enjoy.
No lines at the mall for this Santa and we had the whole room to ourselves. My children took their time taking to Santa and I took pictures. There was also a professional photographer with one free 5″x7″ included.
My kids were more than happy at this point, but there was more. We strolled down the newly landscaped path to the renovated carriage house and entered a craft wonderland where we spent the next hour and a half. My kids were so into doing all FOUR, yes four crafts, they didn’t even need me. So I went to the new gift shop in the other part of the carriage house and shopped. All of this cost me $40 for the whole family!
Van Vleck has many fun educational programs going on all winter and I am so excited to take my kids to as many as possible.
On Sunday we went to the annual Swedish Christmas Fair I found myself up missing my childhood and my Swedish heritage. I loved the handmade ornaments, food and games. My kids really had fun as well and for $1 each how can you go wrong?
