Social Sensory Connections is a new program offering social skills groups, communication and sensory support for children ages 3 and up. Each group session lasts one hour and is led by a speech therapist and occupational therapist team. “This integrated, child-centered approach provides an engaging social atmosphere that emphasizes sensory and language development through team building activities with peers.” Groups are limited to 6 children with similar ages and developmental levels. Activities include arts & crafts, yoga, music & movement, story-time, games and more. It’s $100 per session, with a commitment of 5 weeks. Groups meet at the school building in The Unitarian Church on Church Street in Montclair weekly for an hour. We’re so happy to see more and more organizations open their doors to children of all abilities and needs! At the Montclair Academy of Dance and Lab. of Music we welcome students with a wide range of talents and interests in all of our classes. Our teachers, including Maya Milenovic-Workman, MADLOM’s artistic director, work with classes which integrate special needs with mainstream classes.

We hope to see many Barista Kids readers at our open house next week (Jan 14-18, 2013).
