Glen Ridge Teen’s Photograph Wins Scholastic Gold Key Award

Amelia Edwards received a 2013 Scholastic Art Gold Key Award for her photograph titled “Savannah’s Girls.” Amelia is currently a senior at Glen Ridge High School. The awards ceremony was held at the Montclair Art Museum.  Amelia’s award winning photograph will be on display at the Montclair Art Museum through March 10, 2013. Montclair Art Museum is exhibiting Gold Key artwork in the Education and Art School Arcade gallery.  Having won a Gold Key Award, Amelia’s photograph will continue on to Scholastic’s National competition.

According The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards website, the program continues to be the longest-running and most prestigious recognition programs for creative teens in the United States.  Students are judged for their originality, technical skill, and their personal voice or vision.  Over the past 90 years awards have been given to Andy Warhol, Philip Pearlstein, and Cy Twombly, photographer Richard Avedon, and more.

  • Mady Thuyein, Nutley High School: Gold Key for poetry

    She is Geoff. The photo is still being judged in further competition and cannot be published alone yet.
