All local schools are closed on Monday, February 18 for Presidents Day, but some schools are closed longer for a winter break.
If you have to work, there are great childcare options available. If you happen to be home too (lucky you), there are also some fun Presidents Day family activities to enjoy:
Vacation Camps
Little Live Y’ers Vacation Camp
Who: Kids ages 3 – 6.
What: A day filled with fun activities: swimming, gym, arts and crafts and more!
Where: The Geyer Family YMCA, 159 Glenridge Avenue, Montclair, NJ, 07042.
When: Monday, February 18 – Wednesday, February 20. Kids can be dropped off as early at 7:30 a.m. and picked up as late as 6:30 p.m.
Cost: Members – $50 a day / Non-members – $60 a day. In order to reserve a space for your child, payment and a registration form must be completed for each date attending. Please register within 3 business days prior to the program date. Registration received in less than 3 days prior to camp will be charged an additional $10 fee.

Live Y’ers Vacation Camp
Who: Kids in grades 1 – 8.
What: A day filled with fun activities.
Where: Montclair YMCA at Hillside School, 54 Orange Road, Montclair, NJ, 07042.
When: Monday, February 18 – Wednesday, February 20 from 7:30 am – 6:30 pm

Sports Vacation Program at JCC MetroWest
Who: 3 1/2 to 5 years.
What: Fun filled day with a variety of gym games and sports. We use hoops, balls, bean bags, parachute, and more! Free swim included as well.
Where: JCC MetroWest, Margulis Gymnasium, 760 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, NJ.
When: Tuesday, February 19 and Wednesday, February 20. from 9:00 am 1:00 pm.

Who: Grades K-5.
What: Join us for a fun day focusing on your favorite varsity sports. Exciting drills and game-like scrimmages. Awards given at end of the day.

South Mountain YMCA Vacation Camp
Who: Children in Kindergarten to 5th grade.
What: Enjoy a “Beach Day” and a Camping Day at these fun vacation camps.
Where: South Mountain YMCA, 13 Jefferson Avenue, Maplewood, NJ.
When: Friday, February 15 and Monday, February 18 from 7:15 am to 7:00 pm.

Winter Break Mini-Vacation Camp at Express Yourself Studios
Who: Kids ages 4 – 10
What: Participants will create paintings using a mix of mediums (acrylics, watercolor, and pastels) and other projects using a myriad of materials (clay & paper collages). We’ll be inspired by artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Paul Cezanne, Georgia O’Keeffe and many others.

When: February 14 – Febryary 22 from 9 am – 12 pm
Cost: $150 for the week or $45 per child/per day
Camp Caldwell “Mini Camps”
Who: School age kids.
What: When school is closed and you need childcare, kids can enjoy swimming, arts & crafts, sports and more!
Where: Caldwell Community Center, One Provost Square, Caldwell, NJ
When: February 18 and 19. Available from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm.

Cora Hartshorn Arboretum Mini Camp for Winter Break
Who: Kids ages 3 – 5 AND 6 – 10.
What: Have your child come to the Arboretum during the Millburn Township school vacation week to enjoy mornings that are fun and educational! All classes are led by the Environmental Educator, Erica Fisher! We will go outside if the weather is favorable so please dress appropriately.
Where: Cora Hartshorn Arboretum, 324 Forest Drive South, Short Hills, NJ.
When: Monday, February 18 – Friday, February 22. 9:30 am – 11:30 am (ages 3-5) and 9 am – 3 pm (ages 6-10)

Presidents Day Activities
Presidents Day Event: Grover Cleveland’s Birthplace
Who: All ages.
What: Show your Jersey pride and celebrate Presidents Day. Family activities will include self-guided tours of the historic house museum and a scavenger hunt (items include a 126-year-old piece of wedding cake—seriously!). Kids will also have the chance to dress up like Cleveland and his wife, Frances, and play period games. Call to confirm hours.

Presidents Day For Kids
Who: Kids grades 2 through 6.
What: Presidents Day should be about more than just a good sale. Visit the Israel Crane House and, through hands-on activities and crafts, discover how our past presidents (and their wives and children) lived.
