UPDATED: School Snow Closures, Early Dismissals and Canceled Events For Friday, February 8

school closures and early dismissalsAnd so it begins. With a major winter storm warning in effect, what the Weather Channel has dubbed “Winter Storm Nemo,” local schools are starting to call early dismissals and closures.

Public Schools

Wayne Public Schools: early dismissal
Montclair Public Schools: All after school programs, activities an events are canceled today and tomororw, Saturday, February 9
Passaic Valley High School: 12:30 dismissal
Bloomfield Public Schools: early dismissal
West Essex Regional Schools: early dismissal
Little Falls Public Schools: early dismissal
Verona Public Schools: early dismissal
Nutley Public Schools: single session schedule
Clifton Public Schools: early dismissal
North Cadlwell Public Schools: early dismissal
Glen Ridge Public Schools: early dismissal
Millburn Public Schools: early dismissal
South Orange – Maplewood Public Schools: early dismissal
Caldwell-West Caldwell Public Schools: early dismissal
Cedar Grove Public Schools: early dismissal
Livingston Public Schools: early dismissal
Summit Public Schools: early dismissal
Chatham Public Schools: early dismissal
West Orange Public Schools: early dismissal and all activities today and tomorrow are canceled.

Mount Saint Dominic in Caldwell: closed
Aquinas Academy in Livingston: closed
Lacordaire Academy in Montclair: closed
Park Street Academy in Montclair: 3:30 early dismissal
Montclair Kimberley Academy: all afternoon activities canceled. School closing at 3 pm Closed and all Saturday activities canceled.
Montclair Cooperative Schoolall after school programs canceled. Early dismissal.
Newark Academy in Livingston: closed
The Children’s Institute in Verona: early dismissal
Kent Place School: closed
St. Clare School in Clifton: early dismissal
Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair: early dismissal
Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child in Summit: closed
Child’s Way Jewish Montessori in West Orange: early dismissal
St. Catherine Of Siena in Cedar Grove: early dismissal
MMO Programs in Montclair: early dismissal (12:30 pm)

Colleges & Universities

Caldwell College: closed
Montclair State University:classes are canceled after 2:15 pm today. The University will reopen at 5 pm on Saturday, February 9.  All activities and events are canceled after 3 pm today.

 

Business Closings

  • Montclair Public Library: closing at 1 pm
  • Montclair Art Museum: museum and Yard School of Art closed today
  • The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will be closed at 1 pm on Friday, February 8. All classes and workshops have been cancelled for Friday and Saturday.
  • South Orange Public Library closing at 2 pm today.
  • Thomas Edison NHP will be closing at 2 pm today and will not open on Saturday 9 February.
  •  JCC MetroWest will be closing at 1:30 pm today(Friday), we will be CLOSED tomorrow(Saturday).
  •  Glen Ridge Public Library will be closing today (February 8, 2013) at 1:30pm and will remain closed on Saturday February 9, 2013.
  •  Bloomfield Public Library will be closing today at 12 pm and will be closed tomorrow, Saturday.
  • Mathnasium Montclair will be closed tomorrow, Saturday, February 9.
  • The Little Gym: All afternoon classes are canceled  today, Friday, February 8
  • Turtle Back Zoo will be closed through 2/9/13 and will open on Sunday.
  • The Geyer Family YMCA closing today, February 8 at 4 pm due inclement weather. Saturday, February 9 the building will be opening at 12 pm. All classes before that 12 pm are canceled.
  • Montclair YMCA closing today at 6 pm, opening tomorrow at 12 pm.

 

Canceled and Postponed Events

  • Montclair High School Crew auction night is postponed and has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 13 from 6:30-9 pm
  • The Art Garage’s SUPER SECRET COMIC BOOK CLUB meeting for tonight is canceled.
  • The Saturday, February 9  administration of the ACT, scheduled to be given at Montclair High School  has been CANCELED due to inclement weather. The rescheduled test date will be posted at www.actstudent.org as soon as it is set.
  • Friday night performance of Gas Lamp Players’ The Wizard of Oz canceled.
  • All Montclair Recreation Department programs for today, February 8, and Saturday, February 9, have been canceled.
  • Montclair Public Library’s TAB Games Day Extravaganza as been rescheduled and will take place on Saturday, February 16 at 2 pm
  • Glen Ridge Recreation’s Friday Night Rec is canceled.
  • The African Clay Mask Workshop at Roseland Public Library is canceled and rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 22, at 5 pm
  • Watchung Booksellers closing today at 5 pm This evenings science fiction book club and tomorrow’s story time with author Marilyn Singer canceled.
