Montclair High School Dance Company: 2013 Spring Dance Concert

Montclair High School Dance Company performed its opening night of the Spring Dance Concert last night and will perform again tonight and tomorrow afternoon. Don’t miss these talented performers!

Each year, the MHS Dance Company attracts award-winning and emerging choreographers from professional and college dance companies to work with its talented students. This year, MHS dancers will set the stage on fire with works by choreographers from New York, New Jersey and Baltimore, representing FreeSpace Dance, Premiere Dance Theatre, Umoja Dance Company, Douglas Dunn & Dancers, Goucher College and Rutgers University, among others. Two pieces are choreographed by MHS DanceCo alumni, bringing their professional skills back to the community. And, for the first time, live music will accompany one of the dances.

The MHS Dance Company is another thing that represents what is special about Montclair.
Come to this performance and you will see why. You will see a group of young people who perform with great confidence, beauty, and skill. You will see a diverse group of students who might not have had the opportunity to form friendships in other programs in the school, because they are often pretty homogeneous. You will see a community of young students who work together rehearsing for many months with professional choreographers, and who are ready to wow you with a wonderful performance.
Congratulations to the students, the choreographers, and to Denise Brown, the Company’s Artistic Director on another great show.

Don’t miss it! Support the arts in our schools!
