Bradford is the area’s best-kept secret. It’s more expensive than the others, but nothing else compares to the grounds, facilities and people. It used to have a reputation of being restrictive, but that was under previous ownership.

Hello – Looking at pool options for my kids. Am I missing something about the Glen Ridge Pool? It seems that every town has a community pool in the $400 price range. Glen Ridge has a community pool that costs $1250 initiation plus $750 for a family. I don’t think it is affiliated with the GR Country Club, is it? I have never seen a public pool that is so expensive. That would be $2000 for the first summer.

It’s our 1st summer as Mtclr Twnshp Public Pool members-so far so good. I have found that the Nishuane Pool and playground are great first thing on a Saturday and Sunday morning. Have been over to the Essex Pool when it was crazy busy once already, and did not enjoy at all. We went one other time in the evening with my son, who loved swimming around the big pool and watching the evening trains roll past us as they got to the Walnut St Station. Since we work full time and my son is in daycare Mon-Fri, it is a perfect fit for the family schedule, and not as costly as the other options. However, Bradfod is really lovely-and well worth it if it is in your price range.

I don’t think Bradford is much of a secret. They did drop the no-nanny policy and some other silly rules. It is lovely.

We joined the Colony pool last summer and for the price it offers so much. The problem was my kids didn’t know anyone. So back to the Montclair trio this summer. They always know somebody there, so they are happy.

alic314- Essex or as we call it The Chestnut Bath and Beach Club has camp during the week days so stay away m-f 1-5. Weekends are usually quiet.
