The winner of the Sesame Street Live at Prudential Center giveaway we ran in August emailed us this photo of her adorable boys as a thank you:
Stress is a killer—literally. I think most of us know this. And yet we seem to often be stressed out. Some of us even take pride in how much stress we can handle. Take it from me, sooner or later you will start to feel the negative effects of stress. Its like a high interest loan–great for getting us out of a life or death situation. When we are worried about how to send our kids to college, whether our child is eating enough to grow, or the quality of our parenting the cost may outweigh any benefits. The good news is there is something we can do about it.
Here are seven secrets to a stress-less day for parents:
The Girls’ Club of Glen Ridge kicks off its new year with the donation of dozens of gift bags to the American Red Cross for our troops serving overseas.
Our favorite parenting tweets from this past week, many from local moms and dads:
Family fun was everywhere at the 8th annual Crane Park Festival yesterday at Montclair Center. Kids enjoyed face painting, glitter tattoos, popcorn, balloons, a bouncy house, gymnastics from The Little Gym and great art projects.
Kicking off the day’s entertainment was Jason Didner & The Jungle Gym Jam. Various musicians followed for the rest of the afternoon. The fun day concluded at 4 pm.
Jane Marcus is at it again. She’s the creator and organizer of the Hillside Free Community-Wide Swap, which helps you clear out your closets and/or score some “new to you” items. The 21st swap will take place on Saturday, October 5 from 9 am – 11 am, with drop off of donations on Friday, October 4. As always, the swap is free and open to everyone.
Do you have a lot of things around your home that you don’t use and want to get rid of? Or how about a coat you received this holiday season that doesn’t fit or a book that you know (just between us) you’ll never read – donate your new or gently used things to the Hillside Swap. Or, if you’re looking for items, go browse the Hillside Swap for great finds.
They will also accept adult and children’s bikes! They will take donations of bikes that are in working condition on Friday. And if you need a bike, perhaps you’ll find one at the swap on Saturday. So check your garage for bikes that you’re no longer using.
