Montclair High School Principal Telling Students to Mind Their Manners

policeticketMontclair High School Principal, James Earle, sent an email to parents and students reminding them to mind their manners and warning  them to use sidewalks and crosswalks or face fines form the MPD:

Mr. Earle wants to remind all MHS students:

1. Be aware of your language especially around younger children and community members in our neighborhood.  Using vulgarity is inappropriate in public settings. Be aware of your surroundings, set a good example and be polite.

2. Be good neighbors and to dispose of your trash in the containers provided around MHS. Be respectful of private properties and to the residents surrounding the school, especially on your way to and from lunch.

Also the Montclair Police Department is once again reminding us of a safety issue concerning our students.  There are reports of students walking in the middle of the streets surrounding MHS, especially during the lunch periods. The police have received numerous complaints from the public about the potential for serious injury to the students as well as the inconvenience and frustration to drivers navigating the area.

With the start of school, officers of the Traffic Division will be out in the area concentrating on this issue.  They will be giving warnings to the students as well as issuing summonses.

Under the NJ-Motor Vehicle Code Title 39 the following will be issued:  39:4-34-Failure to use sidewalks where provided. The cost of this infraction is $54.00.There will also be a mandatory court appearance.

Strange: the kids are I’m high school and still without basic manners and social skills.

It’s true, idrtherbeat63, and they can’t walk with books balanced on their heads either.

That’s a very nicely composed directive. Clear, concise, prescriptive.

Too bad the kids haven’t learned these traits in their previous 14-19 years…
