Jacob Levy, a 5th grader at Montclair’s Hillside Elementary School, looked around his room a few months ago and realized that he had a lot of stuff he wasn’t obsessed with anymore. And he was trying to figure out a way to sell it. He thought about the used book sales that occur at the library, and how the library really needs help – and an idea was born.

He wrote a letter and walked it around the children’s floor to all the librarians. It said, “I’ve always loved the library. I’d consider it # 4 on my Favorite Paces in the World list. I love reading and not spending money, so the library is the perfect place for me. I heard about the budget cut, and I felt like I should do something. I have an idea that could help.”

You can imagine how the librarians reacted.

Jacob reached out to a bunch of his friends and has organized Toys For Books: Library Tag Sale. The kids participating will either spend the day at the library selling their own gently loved toys, or donating toys to the cause. Half of their proceeds will go to the Montclair Public Library.

Yard sale season isn’t over yet folks and there’s a good one tomorrow in Glen Ridge.

This family of five has some good loot to sell. Mom is interior designer, Nancy Breslin, so expect some stylish stuff. There will be lots of new, still in boxes items–perfect for holiday gifts. Children’s toys & books, picture frames, household items, retro aprons, furniture and more.

The kids will have hot chocolate to buy too!

A Montclair family is moving to Europe (maybe it’s Montclair taxes?) and they are having a huge yard sale.
There will be lots of baby and kid clothing (every piece $1) and some still with tags, a Peg Perego stroller, Chicco highchair, baby swings, European kid shoes and much more to buy at bargain prices.

This stroller is a good solution for three small kids. My Joovy Big Caboose is in excellent condition and comes with the car seat adapter. I can get it into my minivan, and I’m a small woman. It’s not the best triple stroller, I’ll be honest, but it is a solution for a trip or in a pinch. $50 firm. Email me for more information.
